Mission + Vision

The mission of Social Soundtrack is to create opportunities for community, storytelling, and healing across the African Diaspora through creative art and cultural expression.

We envision a world where Black life is dignified, creativity is celebrated, and joy is unapologetic.

The Woman Behind the Vision

LySaundra Janeé is a storyteller, curator, and the founder of Social Soundtrack, a brand dedicated to community, storytelling, and healing across the African Diaspora through creative art and cultural expression. Before launching Social Soundtrack, she worked in the nonprofit sector for more than a decade at the collegiate, local, state, and national levels at the intersections of racial and gender justice.

LySaundra studied sociology and music at the University of Missouri-Columbia. She has worked with Prevention Institute, the National Women’s Law Center, the National Network to End Domestic Violence, state domestic and sexual violence coalitions, and crisis centers.

She was a 2021 Anaphora Arts Writing Residency Fellow and her work can be found in the New York Writers Coalition anthology, Common Unity, Rewire News, Sojourners, Chasing Justice, The Witness Black Christian Collective, 21Ninety, The New Territory Magazine, Elite Daily, Blavity, and more.

When she isn’t advocating for social and political liberation, you can find her with family or friends, playing piano or listening to music, and curled up with a book.
